Bhairavi Mata Puja Vidhi

Worship of Maa Bhairavi is performed to attain strength, courage, self-confidence, and spiritual energy. True devotion, discipline, and a pure mind help remove fear, negativity, and obstacles from the devotee's life.

Preparation

  • Take a bath in the morning and wear clean red or yellow clothes

  • Clean the worship area thoroughly

  • Place the idol or image of Maa Bhairavi on a red cloth

  • Sit facing east or north direction

  • Keep the mind calm and focused during worship

Required Items (Samagri)

  • Idol or image of Maa Bhairavi

  • Red flowers

  • Kumkum

  • Turmeric

  • Sandalwood paste

  • Incense sticks

  • Ghee lamp

  • Fruits and sweets

  • Coconut

  • Red chunari (cloth)

  • Betel leaves and nuts

  • Rice (Akshat)

  • Water vessel

Sankalp (Resolution)

  • Sit with a calm mind and take a vow to perform the puja

  • Pray to Maa Bhairavi for protection from fear, troubles, and negative energies

  • Seek blessings for family happiness, peace, and spiritual growth

Meditation (Dhyan)

  • Close your eyes and meditate on Maa Bhairavi

  • Visualize her radiant and divine form

  • Focus the mind on mantra chanting for some time

Invocation (Avahan)

  • Invite Maa Bhairavi to accept your worship

  • Chant 'Om Bhairavyai Namah' 11 or 21 times

Seat & Welcome (Asan & Padya)

  • Offer flowers symbolically as a seat

  • Offer pure water to welcome the deity

Bathing (Snan)

  • Offer clean water to the idol or image

  • Optionally perform Panchamrit bathing and then purify with water again

Decoration (Alankar)

  • Apply kumkum, turmeric, and sandalwood paste

  • Offer red flowers and red chunari

  • Decorate with devotion and respect

Naivedya (Offering Food)

  • Offer fruits, sweets, and coconut

  • Present bhog with devotion

Incense & Lamp

  • Light incense sticks and offer fragrance

  • Light a ghee lamp

Mantra Chanting

  • Chant 'Om Hreem Bhairavyai Namah'

  • Repeat 108 times if possible

Aarti

  • Sing the aarti of Maa Bhairavi

  • Move the lamp in a circular motion during worship

Pradakshina (Circumambulation)

  • Walk around the idol 1 or 3 times

Pranam (Salutation)

  • Bow down and seek blessings from the goddess

  • Pray for courage, protection, and well-being

Prasad Distribution

  • Distribute offered sweets and food as prasad

Important Guidelines

Worship of Maa Bhairavi is especially auspicious during Navratri, Ashtami, and Fridays. The color red holds special significance in her worship. Purity of mind, speech, and actions is essential. Devotion and faith are more important than ritual complexity.
