Lakshmi Mata Puja Vidhi

Lakshmi Mata puja is performed to invite prosperity, peace, and positivity. It should be done with devotion, cleanliness, and a focused mind.

Puja Samagri

  • Clean chowki with red or yellow cloth

  • Lakshmi Mata idol or photo

  • Kalash with water, mango leaves, and coconut

  • Diya (lamp) and incense (agarbatti/dhoop)

  • Flowers and garland

  • Kumkum, haldi, and rice (akshat)

  • Fruits and sweets (naivedya)

  • Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar)

  • Betel leaves and supari (optional)

  • Aarti diya

Preparation

    Clean the house and especially the puja area.

    Take a bath and wear clean or traditional clothes.

  3. 3

    Place a chowki and spread a red or yellow cloth.

  4. 4

    Install Lakshmi Mata idol or photo on the chowki.

  5. 5

    Place the Kalash with water, mango leaves, and coconut.

  6. 6

    Light the diya and incense.

  7. 7

    Sit facing east or north calmly.

Sankalp (Intention)

    Take water in your right hand.

  2. 2

    State your name, date, and purpose of puja.

  3. 3

    Pray for prosperity, peace, and well-being.

  4. 4

    Release the water into a plate.

Ganesh Puja

  1. 1

    Offer flowers to Lord Ganesha.

  2. 2

    Light incense or diya before him.

  3. 3

    Chant 'Om Gan Ganapataye Namah'.

  4. 4

    Pray for removal of obstacles.

Kalash Sthapana

  1. 1

    Sprinkle water on the Kalash.

  2. 2

    Invoke purity and divine presence.

  3. 3

    Keep it near Lakshmi Mata idol.

Lakshmi Avahan (Invocation)

    Offer flowers to Lakshmi Mata.

    Fold hands and invite her presence.

  3. 3

    Chant 'Om Mahalakshmyai Namah, Aavahayami'.

Puja Offerings (Shodashopachar)

    Offer asana (seat).

  2. 2

    Offer padya (water for feet).

  3. 3

    Offer arghya (respectful water offering).

  4. 4

    Offer achamaniya (water for sipping).

  5. 5

    Perform snan or abhishek (optional).

    Offer vastra (cloth).

    Apply kumkum, haldi, sandalwood (gandha).

    Offer flowers (pushpa).

    Show incense (dhoop).

Mantra & Path

    Chant 'Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah' 11 or 108 times.

    Recite Lakshmi Chalisa or stotra (optional).

  3. 3

    Maintain focus and devotion during chanting.

Aarti

  1. 1

    Light the aarti diya.

  2. 2

    Sing 'Om Jai Lakshmi Mata'.

  3. 3

    Rotate the diya in circular motion.

Pradakshina & Pranam

  1. 1

    Do 3 or 7 pradakshina (rounds).

  2. 2

    Bow down and offer pranam.

  3. 3

    Pray sincerely for blessings.

Prasad & Closure

    Offer final gratitude (kshama prarthana).

    Distribute prasad among family members.

  3. 3

    Keep the diya lit for some time.

    Maintain a peaceful environment.

Important

Evening time, especially Fridays and Diwali, is considered most auspicious. Devotion and sincerity matter more than ritual perfection.
