Sita Mata Puja Vidhi

Mata Sita is the ideal of purity, devotion, and dharma. Worshipping her with a pure heart brings peace, prosperity, marital bliss, and strength of character. She is pleased by simplicity, devotion, white flowers, fruits, and sincere prayer.

Preparation

  • Wake up early in the morning, preferably during Brahma Muhurta

  • Take a bath and wear clean, light-colored clothes (white, yellow or saffron)

  • Clean the puja place thoroughly

  • Place the idol or picture of Mata Sita Ji (with Lord Rama if possible) on a clean altar

  • Decorate the altar with flowers, mango leaves, and rangoli

  • Keep the idol facing east or north direction

Puja Materials

  • Idol or picture of Mata Sita Ji

  • Lord Rama picture (optional but recommended)

  • White flowers or lotus flowers

  • Fresh Tulsi leaves

  • Incense sticks (agarbatti)

  • Ghee lamp (diya)

  • Chandan (sandalwood paste)

  • Kumkum and Haldi

  • Akshat (unbroken rice)

  • Sweets (kheer, peda, or mishri)

  • Fruits (especially bananas and apples)

  • Coconut

  • Panchamrit (optional)

  • Bell

  • Sita Ashtottara Shatanama or Sita Chalisa book

Sankalp (Intention)

    Sit peacefully in front of Mata Sita Ji

    Close your eyes and fold your hands

    Take a sincere resolve for the puja

    Pray for peace, happiness, purity, and family welfare

Invocation

    Light the ghee lamp and incense sticks

    Ring the bell gently

    Chant the mantra:

Puja Procedure

    Offer Tulsi leaves (very dear to Sita Mata)

    Meditate on the divine form of Mata Sita – her purity, devotion and grace

Prasad Distribution

Important Guidelines

  • Maintain physical and mental purity during puja

  • Observe fast or sattvic diet on the day of puja
