Balaji Puja Vidhi

Sri Venkateswara Balaji is a revered form of Lord Vishnu worshipped in the Kali Yuga. His worship is performed with devotion, purity, sincerity, and complete surrender. Lord Balaji fulfills the wishes of devotees and blesses them with happiness, prosperity, peace, and spiritual growth.

Preparation

  • Wake up during Brahma Muhurta or before sunrise

  • Take a bath and wear clean clothes

  • Men may wear yellow or white clothing, while women may wear clean traditional attire

  • Clean the worship area thoroughly

  • Place an idol or picture of Lord Venkateswara Balaji on a clean altar

  • Decorate the altar with flowers and a lamp

  • Keep the idol facing east or west

Puja Materials

  • Idol or picture of Lord Venkateswara Balaji

  • Tulsi leaves

  • Fresh flowers and garlands

  • Incense sticks

  • Ghee lamp

  • Sandalwood paste

  • Kumkum

  • Akshata (uncooked rice)

  • Panchamrit

  • Fruits

  • Sweets or laddus

  • Coconut

  • Ganga water or pure water

  • Vishnu Sahasranama book

  • Venkateswara Stotram or Chalisa

  • Bell

    Join your hands and meditate upon Him

    Take a vow for the worship while remembering your name and family lineage (gotra)

    Pray for the well-being, prosperity, health, and spiritual growth of your family

Invocation

    Light the lamp and incense sticks

    Ring the bell to begin the worship

  3. 3

    Meditate on Lord Venkateswara

  4. 4

    Chant the mantra:

Puja Procedure

    Offer pure water to the Lord

    Apply sandalwood paste as a tilak

  3. 3

    Offer kumkum and akshata

    Offer fresh flowers and a flower garland

    Offer Tulsi leaves

  6. 6

    Offer coconut, fruits, and sweets as bhog

  7. 7

    Offer Panchamrit (if available)

  8. 8

    Meditate on the divine form of the Lord

  9. 9

    Offer your prayers with devotion and sincerity

Important

Tulsi leaves are especially dear to Lord Vishnu and Lord Venkateswara Balaji. Vishnu worship is traditionally considered incomplete without Tulsi. Even a simple offering made with devotion and faith is pleasing to the Lord.

Prasad Distribution

    First offer the food to the Lord

    Spend a few moments in meditation and prayer

    Then distribute the prasad among family members and devotees

Important Guidelines

  • Maintain purity in thoughts, words, and actions during the worship

  • Consume sattvic food

  • Avoid anger, falsehood, and negative thoughts

  • Worship on Thursdays and Ekadashi is considered especially auspicious

  • Daily worship with Tulsi leaves and Vishnu mantras is beneficial

  • Service, charity, and humility hold special importance in the worship of Lord Balaji
