Kali Mata Puja Vidhi

The main purpose of Goddess Kali’s worship is to destroy fear, ignorance, and negativity and to attain spiritual strength and protection.

Preparation (Sankalp)

  • Take a bath in the morning or at night (especially on Amavasya, Tuesday, or Saturday) and wear clean clothes.

  • Clean the worship place and prepare a platform covered with a red or black cloth.

  • Take a vow (sankalp) in your mind with devotion that you are performing the worship sincerely.

Worship Materials

  • Idol or picture of Goddess Kali

  • Red or black clothes

  • Red flowers (Hibiscus preferred), Bel leaves

  • Incense sticks and lamp (mustard oil lamp)

  • Coconut, red sandalwood

  • Black sesame seeds, black gram (urad dal)

  • Betel leaves, betel nut, cloves, cardamom

  • Sweets or kheer (offering/naivedya)

  • Ganga water, kumkum, vermilion

  • Camphor, ghee

Installation and Invocation

    Place the idol of Goddess Kali on the platform.

    Light the lamp and incense sticks.

  3. 3

    Invoke the Goddess by chanting: “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Kalikayai Namah”.

Bathing and Decoration

    Offer water to the idol (symbolic bathing).

  2. 2

    Apply sandalwood paste, kumkum, and offer flowers.

  3. 3

    Adorn the idol with garland and decoration.

Offering Bhog (Food Offering)

    Offer jaggery, coconut, fruits, or sweets.

  2. 2

    In some places, kheer or halwa is also offered.

Mantra Chanting

    Chant the main mantra:

    “Om Kreem Kalikayai Namah”

    or

    “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Kalikayai Namah”

  5. 5

    It is considered auspicious to chant at least 108 times.

Aarti

    Perform the aarti of Goddess Kali and ring the bell.

    After aarti, all family members receive blessings.

Prayer

    Finally, pray to the Goddess to remove obstacles, fear, and negativity from your life.
