Narasimha Dev is worshipped in Hinduism as the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He appeared in a divine form that was half-man and half-lion — with the face of a lion and the body of a human. Prahlada, the son of Hiranyakashipu, was a devoted worshipper of Lord Vishnu from birth. While still in his mother's womb, he had heard the glories of Lord Vishnu from Sage Narada. Hiranyakashipu repeatedly tried to persuade, threaten, and torture him into abandoning Vishnu worship, but Prahlada's devotion remained unshaken. The name 'Narayana' was constantly on his lips.

Enraged, Hiranyakashipu made numerous attempts to kill Prahlada. He was thrown among poisonous snakes, trampled by elephants, pushed from a mountain, submerged in water, and subjected to fire. Yet by the grace of Lord Vishnu, no harm came to him. His sister Holika, who possessed protection from fire, sat in the flames with Prahlada on her lap. However, due to the power of Prahlada's devotion, Holika was reduced to ashes while Prahlada remained unharmed.

One day, Hiranyakashipu angrily asked Prahlada, 'Where is this Vishnu whom you say is everywhere? Is He present in this pillar as well?' Prahlada fearlessly replied, 'Yes, Father. The Lord is present even in this pillar and in every particle of creation.' Hiranyakashipu then struck the pillar with tremendous force.

At that very moment, Narasimha Dev emerged from the pillar with a terrifying roar — neither fully human nor fully beast. He had the face of a lion and the body of a man. It was twilight — neither day nor night. Narasimha Dev placed Hiranyakashipu on His lap at the palace threshold — neither inside nor outside. Holding him neither in the sky nor on the earth, He tore him apart with His claws — neither weapon nor instrument. In this way, every condition of Brahma's boon remained intact while righteousness was restored.

Even after slaying Hiranyakashipu, Narasimha Dev's anger did not subside. The gods, Lord Brahma, and even Goddess Lakshmi were unable to calm Him. Finally, the young Prahlada approached and placed his head at the Lord's feet in prayer. Touched by Prahlada's devotion and praise, Narasimha Dev's fury subsided, and He embraced His devotee.

Narasimha Dev then invited Prahlada to ask for a boon. Prahlada requested no worldly reward. He prayed only that greed and selfishness would never arise in his heart and that his devotion to the Lord would remain eternal. Deeply pleased by this selflessness, Narasimha Dev accepted him fully into His divine protection.

This divine incarnation of Narasimha Dev proves that God is omnipresent — present in the pillar and in every particle of existence.
